“Surfing the Nations” honored me on Jan. 31, 11 with an awesome surf statue for living my life as a positive Christian role model. Thank you Tom, Zach, and STN crew! My faith in Jesus Christ is the driving force behind my surfing. I know this is God’s plan. My happiness does not depend on winning heats but on God. He is always there for me. I play bass guitar on the worship team at my church,H20 Community Church in HB. I’m not your typical pro surfer. I am alcohol free and drug free, hoping to positively influence the younger generation. My wife & I remained abstinent until marriage and I encourage others to do the same. No regrets. No STDs. My parents surf. They taught me to surf when I was 4 & bought my 1st board at age 6. Unfortunately, we moved from the OC to the high desert (90 miles inland) and only surfed weekends & summer. Eight years later, we moved back to HB so that I could pursue surfing as a varsity sport at Huntington Beach High School. My Mom is a nursing professor and wrote a book about the Teen STD Epidemic. Danielle & I are on the cover. She speaks to teen audiences and sometimes Danielle & I speak to the kids about waiting until marriage.
